WordCore for Vanguard 3.0 and AXS1600
WordCore was designed on the Vantage communication aid, along
with a version that runs on a Vanguard with software version 4.0 and above.
In response to requests, there is now a version available for Vanguard
software 3.0 and up, which also runs on the AXS1600.
In both cases, the WordCore software loads into the device
and completely erases any vocabulary already in there. Let's put that
another way - if you load WordCore into a Vanguard with 3.0 software,
or into an AXS1600, you will lose whatever is already in there!
This is because the older software did NOT allow for separate User Areas
to be loaded independently. This was one of the changes made to the 4.0
software. However, you CAN save your old vocabulary before loading WordCore,
so if you wanted to load it back in, you could - losing the WordCore
in the process.
So, if you have a Vanguard with 3.0 software, or an AXS1600,
here is the WordCore file:
The operating software for VG 3.0 and AXS1600 had some limitations,
which means that there are some features of the WordCore program that
may be funky.
If you turn the speech OFF, it will turn back on again if you use any
Smart Rows for grammatical endings. This is because in the application
software, I need to turn speech OFF to bring up the ending without speaking
it, then turn it back ON to read the word. Otherwise the device says "ing,"
"est," "ly" and so on whenever you select that button.
Auditory scanning doesn't work 100% of the time. Sometimes, you will
only here the prompt "macro." This is due to the fact that VG
3.0 and AXS1600 didn't have the PROMPT MARKER feature that later software
has - one of the reasons PRC upgraded the software to 4.0 in the first
place.
Computer emulation has problems - enough said.
Otherwise, the software works just fine. Send
an e-mail if you find any problems.
