Notes:
The Vantage communication aid can be used in a number of ways that enable best use of Language Activity Monitoring. When used in conjunction with keyboard emulation software, the data collected can be transferred to a computer for detailed analysis. Specifically, the AAC Keys software will demonstrated, although the default SerialKeys option in Windows-based computers can be used. With the Mac, there is a SerialKeys software available at http://trace.wisc.edu/world/computer_access/mac/sk_soft.htmll, which can be used with System 7.0 to 9.0 Operating Systems.
The data resulting from monitoring contains information that provides specific details on how a device is being used. There will be discussion on how it is possible to expand this “marker” information for custom analysis.
Finally, the application of these data collection principles will be discussed in relation to the Pathfinder communication aid.
