No technology is truly “intuitive.” One definition of “intuitive” is “Well I understand it so everyone else will!” All new devices and skills need to have some teaching involved, which can range from almost none (if you buy a new basketball, how much training do you need to use it?) to years (when does a pianist stop learning?)
Different manufacturers and suppliers will offer different levels of training support. This is typically aimed at the support personnel and not the client specifically. The manufacturer may have a role to play as part of the AAC implementation process, but it is usually minor in relation to the roles played by the rest of the team.
Formats for training can range from a single sheet of paper with instructions through to face-to-face seminars with small groups. Prentke Romich offers live on-line training for all its products.
