Notes:
It is sometimes valuable to distinguish between a “manufacturer” and a “supplier” (or “distributor.”) In general, the manufacturer physically designs and builds a piece of technology whereas a supplier promotes and sells technology obtained from a manufacturer. Some suppliers carry a large number of devices whereas manufacturers typically have a small range. Manufacturers can also be suppliers.
The levels of support offered by manufacturers and suppliers can vary. For example, some suppliers offer training but no repair service. This means that when buying a device for a client, it is important to know what after-sales support is offered.
For the most part, many of the comments in the proceeding discussions refer to both manufacturers and suppliers.
