DEC Speech SoundsYou can use the DEC synthesiser in your Pathfinder to string sounds together. It does this by using special codes and each code repreents a specific sound. In order for your device to recognize that you are using DEC codes instead of regular letters, you have to use the two symbols '[' and ']'Here's an example; [kaet] will be spoken as "cat," [maws] will be "mouse," and [chiyz] as "cheese." The table below shows you a list of all the codes and what each sounds like.If you don't use the square brackets, the device will not use the DEC sound table. If you use a letter combination within the brackets that isn't a DEC code, the word won't be spoken at all.English Vowel Sounds
