Improving muffled speech
The Pathfinder's overall tone runs from 1 (very bass and muffled) to
20 (very treble and tinny). PRC sets a BASE VALUE at 10, a nice average.
This base value is hidden away in the device because most people will
never want to use it. However, it is possible to access this and reset
the base value to anything from 0 to 20. Here's the 'secret code;'
1. Take off the keyguard and go to the Toolbox.
2. Select CTRL.
3. Select SHIFT.
4. Select SPEECH MENU.
You will then get a screen called SPEECH PITCH MENU with only one button,
called 'Average Pitch.' Press this to choose a new base value.
Try setting it to 0 and then 20 to get a hearing for the overall difference.
